Longniddry Studio

For the last two and a half years, Fly Right has had the use of its very own studio premises in Longniddry, East Lothian! We already had established a presence in the village, as we rent Kitchener Hall which is our costume store and workshop currently. Having seen the benefits to the local community that such a move could mean, East Lothian Council agreed to lease the Former Library to us for the next 21 years at a low rent so that we can redevelop the building as a small dance studio.

New Committee

In order to take the studio project on to the next level, Fly Right is currently forming a volunteer committee of interested parties who can lend a hand to run the studio. Although we have established a small programme of classes for adults and children, we have been aware for some time that the resource is very under-utilised and are keen to see this expand. Ten volunteers have come forward to help - we are absolutely delighted and, after an initial meeting, are looking into how the committee will be structured and goverened. Watch this space for more developments! More info about the studio

The Former Library building is a good sized building, with excellent parking and disabled access. We‘ve made a few improvements to the building in terms of decoration and floor covering - and over the next two years, we will be seeking funding to refurbish the property as a purpose-built dance studio, with a dance floor, barre, mirrors and small changing area.

The studio is available to local community groups to hire at a really reasonable rate, to complement existing provision from the new Community Centre and, of course, Fly Right offers a range of classes to diversify the range of dance styles on offer in East Lothian.  We are pleased to report that, during the early part of 2006, we were able to offer a temporary home to several Longniddry community groups whose usual meeting place, Longiddry Church Hall, was being refurbished in the first 6 months of that year.
