We’ve been asked to do a few events in February 2011 - here are the details:
RAGTIME WORKSHOP - DANCEBASE - SUNDAY 6 FEBRUARY
We’ve been asked to deliver a workshop on Ragtime dancing for Dancebase, fitting in with the research we’ve been conducting into pre-Charleston era dances and original ballroom dances.
Ballroom dancing – where did it come from?! Discover the early days of ballroom in this fun workshop which explores dances from the Ragtime era. Go back to the days before the Charleston where ladies danced backwards all the time and folk indulged in such oddities as the Turkey Trot, the Grizzly Bear, and the Snake Dip. Learn how Irene and Vernon Castle transformed partner dancing for ever and get to grips with their innovative Castle Walk! Finally, have a go at the Original Foxtrot and just enjoy these fun dances, all done to the strains of Joplin-esque rags and tunes.

SWING AND CHARLESTON MASTERCLASS, DANCE HQ, GLASGOW - SATURDAY 5 FEBRUARY
We are going to be delivering a masterclass in swing and Charleston at the brand spanking new Dance HQ in Glasgwo on Saturday 5 February. Details are to be ironed out soon, but watch out for full information on their website at www.dancehq.co.uk.
RAGTIME-THEMED TEA DANCE - THE TALL SHIP, GLASGOW - SATURDAY 26 FEBRUARY 2011
The Tall Ship is moving home, and to commemorate its last day at its current mooring point, there’s to be a tea dance on-board on Saturday 26 February from 2pm to 4pm - cost: £10 (£8 concesssions). Again, we are awaiting further details, but Fly Right will be hosting, it’s rumoured that there will be a live band, the venue is just AMAZING - and there WILL be tea and scones served!!!
