Events where Fly Right is performing during Summer 2010.... the ones we know about at the moment, anyway!
Tea Dance 2010
This will be Fly Right’s seventh (yes, seven! Count ‘em) year performing at the Edinburgh Fringe. Those of you who have attended know that our Tea Dance is now officially “legendary” (that’s what the Pleasance’s blurb says about us, anyway!). The run starts on Saturday 7 August until Monday 30 August, it’s at the Pleasance Dome, runs from 6.30pm for an hour, cocktails are included (hic!) and you can book tickets/find out more here and here.
Fringe-by-the-Sea 2010
Fly Right returns for a second year to the Fringe-by-the-Sea in North Berwick, to deliver yet another fun tea dance on Sunday 15 August from 17:30 to 19:30 at the venue made for Tea Dances, the Spiegeltent. This year, we’ll have the privilege of dancing to live music from the Nova Scotia Jazz Band. And we’ll be presenting our usual fun taster class-ettes throughout the event, to help those who’d appreciate a wee help with some simple dance steps. Tickets are £10 and you can find more details here. The whole festival has an amazing programme with some very tasty ticket deals - check out some of the other stuff going on in NB that week (we certainly will be!).
Various tea dances in Glasgow
When we totted up the number of tea dances we are doing in August, it came to a very healthy 27!! What with 22 at the Fringe, one in North Berwick, and four more in Glasgow, we shall certainly be drinking some tea this month!
The four tea dances in Glasgow are as follows:
- Three tea-dances as part of the Festival of the Imagination, a FREE event taking place in Springburn Park, Glasgow, from 11-15 August. Please find out more here - http://www.toonspeak.co.uk/festivaloftheimagination.htm and if you’d like to go to the tea dances, which will take place on 11th, 13th and 15th from 1.30pm - 3pm, we think you’ll have to book a space.
- Cassiltoun Housing Association Tea Dance - held at Castlemilk Stables on Saturday 22 August. We’re not sure if this event is open to the general public, but more details can be obtained from Cassiltoun Housing Association on 0141 634 2673.
Leuchars Air Show 2010
And again, the usual Fly Right shenanigans at RAF Leuchars on 11 September 2010. More details from the Airshow site - http://www.airshow.co.uk/.
Tea dance world record attempt - George Square, Glasgow, 12 September 2010
Seemingly, London held another world record tea dance attempt in July this year. Their total of 507 people has yet to be confirmed, but it does beat our Glasgow 2008 total! Glasgow is not a city to be beaten, however, so they’re holding another attempt - this time, it’s on 12 September 2010 in George Square, Glasgow. We hosted the 2008 world record tea dance, and will certainly be there. So come on, dancers, get yourselves down to George Square. These events are a huge giggle AND you, too, could be a record breaker...
